D’ANGELO PERFORMS PRINCE TRIBUTE ON ‘TONIGHT SHOW’
Prince lives on. In the wake of the Purple One’s passing, tributes have poured in from artists ranging from Mariah Carey to The Game. On Tuesday (Apr. 26), D’Angelo became the latest superstar to pay homage to the late icon.
The Black Messiah covered Prince’s “Sometimes It Snows In April” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Sitting behind a piano with a white fur vest over a black shirt, D’Angelo was joined by Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum, the duo behind Princess, a Prince cover band.
It was a touching tribute as purple lights shined around the trio. “Sometimes I feel so bad,” they sang with an emotional tone. “Sometimes I wish life was never-ending / All good things, they say, never last / Often dream of heaven and I know that Prince is there.”
Watch the somber, but stirring cover of “Sometimes It Snows In April” below.
