Police mobilise ICT experts, others to track Anisulowo’s abductors

Three days after the abduction of former Minister of state for Education, Senator Iyabode Anisulowo, by gunmen, the police in Ogun state have moved ICT experts to Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South  Local Government Area to track down the kidnappers and also rescue her unhurt.

Senator Iyabode Anisulowo was kidnapped by some armed men on Wednesday along Sawonjo/Iganokoto road in Yewa area of Ogun State and her whereabouts remained unknown even as her abductors had not yet make any demand.

On Thursday, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, visited the Ilaro home of Anisulowo and assured that the woman would be found and rescued safely.

In a statement on Friday, the spokesman

Where is Democracy

By Martins Oloja
This is not the time to read from the book of lamentation about the safety of democracy in Nigeria. We have been told that democratization in Nigeria is still some work in progress. Really, from the insensitive attitude of the federal law makers who are breaking the laws, notably the law on monetization of benefits by buying cars they have collected money for, it is clear that all is not well with our brand of democracy.

And if the governing Party cannot put its political acts together to deal with stigma of the President of the Senate carrying the awesomeness of the Gavel to the Dock daily in a corruption charge, then how safe is democracy in Nigeria that James Laxar says "globalization has effectively paralysed to an alarming extent". But today is not for democratic diagnosis. Today, let's ask for the whereabouts of the civil rights movements, the civil society organizations, (CSOs) including the non-governmental individuals (NGIs) that fought the military ruthlessly to deliver this 17 year old democracy to us in 1999.

On Thursday 18 February 2016, I sat in the auditorium of the Yar'Adua Centre in Abuja when Mr Dare Babarinsa publicly presented his new remarkable book, The Nigerian Century. And there in front sat Mr. Nosa Igiebor, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Tell newsmagazine, the two masters of ceremonies did not even know to the extent of linking him to Mr Babarinsa, a co-founder of Tell. Mr Igiebor was among some dignitaries that were not recognized by the MCs in good time before they left. Some of the compere

Nigeria’s Defence Chief Visits Niger, Cameroun To Deepen Military Ties

CDS Olonisakin Defence Chief

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, has sought ways of strengthening the existing bi-lateral cooperation between Nigeria, Niger Republic and Republic of Cameroun.

The Defence Chief made several requests during official trips to both countries.

In Niger Republic, General Olonisakin met with the President of the country, Mahamadou Issoufou and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Seyni Garba and discussions on issues that concern the two countries were highlighted.

General Olonisakin thanked the Niger President for the role his country was playing in counter-terrorism operations in Lake Chad Basin and the country’s role in the formation of Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

Nigeria’s CDS expressed delight that Boko Haram had been significantly decimated, a feat, he stressed, called for stronger ties between Nigeria and its neighbours to ensure that no safe haven was provided for the retreating Boko Haram terrorists in the sub-region.

A statement by the Acting Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, said General Olonisakin solicited for improved intelligen

About 630,000 copies of Drake views being sold

 Drake and Justin Bieber
What a time to be alive. Fresh off the release of his fourth studio album Views, Drake toasted its success at a launch party in Toronto.
According to Drizzy, the album—which hit iTunes on Thursday night—has already done massive numbers in the first night alone.
“I got a text message that we sold like 630,000 something records in one night,” he announced to the hometown crowd. “That’s the first time I’ve ever done that shit.”
Views, which features Rihanna, Future, and PARTYNEXTDOOR, will remain an iTunes/Apple Music exclusive for one week before hitting other digital platforms.

Another Canadian superstar, Justin Bieber, was also on hand to celebrate with Drizzy. Bieber showed his support for Views—and debuted his newly-shaved head—at the rapper’s launch party and with his review of the album on Instagram.
“Spending the day listening to #views,” he wrote. “congrats drake you did it again…if you haven’t got it yet go download #v

Indiana is the only place that can save the GOP from a Trump takeover

Indiana is the only place that can save the GOP from a Trump takeover
Donald Trump speaks in Evansville, Indiana.
The only thing that can save the Republican party from a Donald Trump takeover is Indiana.
On the heels of Trump’s resounding win in five states on Tuesday night, anti-Trump Republicans need Ted Cruz to take the Hoosier State to stop the frontrunner from accumulating the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination and avoid a contested convention this summer.
There are now just 10 states left in the Republican primaries, five of them voting on the final critical night of Tuesday 7 June. Of the five states going to the polls in May, Indiana has the biggest delegate haul.
Indiana’s demographics make it appealing to both Trump and Cruz. Its industrial north-west borders Chicago, and as in parts of Illinois manufacturing jobs have slowly disappeared over the past 30 years. In the largest city in the region, Gary, nearly 20% of the population did not have a high school diploma or GE

Put away Ego to be Human

How to be human: how can I stop making everything about me?

Leah Reich was one of the first internet advice columnists. Her column "Ask Leah" ran on IGN, where she gave advice to gamers for two and a half years. During the day, Leah is Slack’s user researcher, but her views here do not represent her employer. You can write to her at askleah@theverge.com and read more How to be Human here.

Dear Leah,

I'm 18 years of age and a college student. My name is Ben.

In the previous issue of How To Be Human, you identified the issue of a guy who cheated on his girlfriend as it being all about him. My case is, as I feel, very much similar to that.

Recently, a team of students at college, where I was a project manager, were presenting our progress. We failed miserably, and while all of my groupmates took it quite stoically, I was devastated. Most of the points our tutor criticized were points I introduced over the course of the project, and as we went with the development, nobody

Apple's great taste doesn't extend to grammar

Apple's great taste doesn't extend to grammar

I don't know a ton about grammar. My girlfriend taught me almost everything I know over the course of 30 minutes one night when I was 21, shortly after graduating college with an English degree. I've occasionally thought about buying a used copy of Strunk & White because it looks cool, but I've never actually read it. I'm pretty good, with commas, but I'm by no means a subject expert in grammar. (Editor's note: Jake, please come to my office.)

Everyone seems to agree Apple's grammar is weird

With all that said, I have a serious problem with Apple's ideas about grammar. They do not make sense, and everyone I've spoken to is in agreement on this. (Editor's note: Yes.)

You may have noticed Apple's odd grammar while browsing its website or watching a keynote. There are a few repeated grammatical tics that always stand out as awkward.

Here's the essence of Apple's grammar rules: its product names should be entirely unadorned. You didn't buy "an iPhone," you

More than a hundred rowdy protesters blocked the entrance to the hotel, where Trump was scheduled to give a speech to conservative activists. They beat on drums, danced, chanted. They wore full-body costumes, including

YEP, WE FINALLY did it. After years of pointing out the privacy and security issues in other web sites, WIRED.com finally addressed one of its own longstanding security issues—by rolling out HTTPS for our security channel. It’s a move everyone should follow, though we’re the first to admit that the technical challenges are not trivial. The rest of WIRED will get the same HTTPS treatment in the coming weeks.

But there are still plenty of security holes in the world—including the longstanding one at the core of our cell phone networks, wh

Ten Steps in building an Android App

10 Steps to Create Your First Android App

Building an Android app isn’t as hard as it might seem, as long as you focus on creating a simple app at first. Android Authority shares a tutorial that covers the 10 main things you have to do to develop your first app.

Although it’s presented as a 10-day program that takes you from idea to Play Store publishing, if you don’t have any coding background, you’ll probably need more time than a couple of hours for each of ten days. Learning the basics of Java alone could take days or weeks.

Still, this is a good outline with linked resources to get you started. The ten steps:

Drake reveals he no longer speaks to Nicki Minaj

DRAKE REVEALS HE NO LONGER SPEAKS TO NICKI MINAJ

Drake  speaks. In addition to dropping Views on Apple Music last night, the Toronto rapper spoke with Zane Lowe about a series of hot topics, including his relationship with Nicki Minaj.
“I don’t really talk to Nicki,” he revealed during the interview. “[She’s] another person that I have a lot of love for, man, a lot of love and a lot of respect, not only for our past and the time and work we put in, but even the way she dealt with the situation at hand.”
The situation he’s referring to is Nicki’s romantic relationship with his rival Meek Mill. Nicki stood by her man’s side through their feud, a decision Drake respects. “I understand what love is and I understand the personal situation,” he said. “She dealt with me how I would expect her to, which is with class. I could only ever do the same…I always have respect and lov

Donald Trump's new target

Donald Trump's new target: Bernie Sanders supporters

(CNN)With the Republican presidential nomination within his grasp, Donald Trump is courting an unlikely group of voters: Bernie Sanders supporters.
The GOP front-runner has ratcheted up his rhetoric against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in recent weeks, calling her a "crooked" politician who is unqualified to be president. But when it comes to her challenger, Bernie Sanders, Trump has taken a notably softer tone, praising the Vermont senator's rhetoric and encouraging him to launch a third-party bid.
"I think Bernie Sanders should run as an independent. I think he'd do great," Trump said at a victory rally in New York City Tuesday night, after sweeping five GOP contests in the Northeast.
The next morning, Trump said on MSNBC: "Bernie Sanders has a message that's interesting. I'm going to be taking a lot of the thin

Google to play GOP convention role

Google to play GOP convention role despite Trump critics

Google has confirmed it will play a formal role at the 2016 Republican convention — despite pressure from critics who want the tech giant to withdraw because of Donald Trump's incendiary rhetoric targeting women, immigrants and minorities.
The company told POLITICO Thursday it will serve as the official livestream provider at the July convention in Cleveland, offering election trends, convention videos, virtual reality tools and other data to attendees and viewers. It provided similar services at the Democratic and Republican conventions in 2012 and for both parties' presidential debates earlier this year.

Election update(Trump)

Jane Sanders agrees with Trump on delegate woes
Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders’ campaigns agree on something: The Democratic Party hasn’t been fair to Sanders.
In an interview with Fox Business on Thursday, Jane Sanders conceded that the Republican presidential front-runner had a point when he said Wednesday that the Vermont senator “has been very effective” against Hillary Clinton but has also “been treated very badly by the Democrats and by the Democratic Party.”
Story Continued Below
While she rejected the real-estate mogul’s advice this week for the senator to mount an independent bid, she did agree that the electoral process hasn’t been fair to her husband.
“Now, Donald Trump has a point. The electoral process, the way it’s conducted now, in both parties, is not good,” she told Fox Business’ Neil Cavuto. “It’s not Democratic. It’s not smart.”
She argued that there should be more open primaries to allow independents to vote and same-day registration to boost voter participation. The Democratic primary “would be very different” if more independents could vote, she said.

Trump’s Hill play includes May meeting, new congressional liaison

Trump’s Hill play includes May meeting, new congressional liaison
Donald Trump’s campaign to improve relations on Capitol Hill includes hiring a liaison to work directly with Congress and another personal meeting with lawmakers that’s in the works for next month as the billionaire looks to officially wrap up the Republican presidential nomination.
The billionaire’s latest play for some very inside-the-Beltway backing was on display Thursday during an hourlong closed door meeting at the Capitol Hill Club, just steps from the Capitol Building. There, Trump adviser Paul Manafort and the campaign’s new congressional middleman, Scott Mason, laid out the roadmap as Trump tries to avoid a floor fight at this summer’s Republican National Convention.
No firm date was set for Trump's visit with lawmakers, but his aides assured the group of about 17 House Republicans at the meeting that Trump wanted to connect with them as he closes out the primary and caucus season.

Drake to premier 'views'

DRAKE TO PREMIERE ‘VIEWS’ ON OVOSOUND RADIO

The countdown to Views is on. Drake’s new albumViews From the 6 is set to drop Friday (Apr. 29), but fans will be able to get a first listen during a “global listening party” on Beats 1 on Apple Music.

The highly-anticipated project will receive its premiere on Thursday (Apr. 28) during a special edition of OVOSOUND Radio at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT. A “major” Drizzy interview with Zane Lowe is also planned.

Views, the follow-up to 2015’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, features the Kanye West and Jay Z-assisted “Pop Style” and “One Dance,” which is currently No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. On Sunday, Drake unveiled the cover art, which features him perched atop Toronto’s CN Tower.

The album’s release comes ahead of Drake’s“Summer Sixteen Tour” with Future. The 30-city run, which begins July 1 in Austin, is also set to include a stop at OVO Fest in Drizzy’s hometown.

Formation World Tour Kick-off!

[PHOTOS] RICK ROSS, TRICK DADDY AND LIL’ WAYNE FLEX FOR THE ‘GRAM ON FORMATION WORLD TOUR KICKOFF IN MIAMI

 TIFFANY HAMILTON

Beyoncé‘s Formation Tour kicked off in Miami Wednesday [April 27] and it seems everyone was there to show support.

DJ Khaled, who was recently announced as the tour’s DJ, brought out some of Hip Hop’s heavyweights to perform, including Lil’ WayneFuture and Rick Rosswho opened the show.

Despite the issues that Birdman may have with Ross and Trick Daddy, Lil’ Wayne posted up with the Miami bred duo, along with Mack Maine showing that there is no beef among the three.

This comes as a surprise to many after Birdman making headlines earlier this week for abruptly storming out of an interview with The Breakfast Club after Charlamagne Tha God asked him if he’d “pull up on Ross and Trick Daddy” in the same manner as he approached the on air radio trio.

With Birdman and Weezy still not addressing their longstanding issues stemming from lack of royalties paid and the label blocking Carter V from coming out, fans are speculating that he’s sending a message to the Ca$h Money Records head honcho by getting his picture taken with the two that Birdman has yet to ‘pull up’ on.

In an interview with Angie Martinez, Birdman stated the relationship between himself and his “son” was “kosher” and no matter what Weezy will always be considered a son to him.

“I mean we kosher, that’s my son and he’s going to always be my son, that’ll never change,” Birdman said. “It has never been red tape to where I hate him and he hates me, it’ll never be that. I just think that the media get a lot of things misconstrued and tries to put things their way and I never try to buy into that.”

D’ANGELO PERFORMS PRINCE TRIBUTE ON ‘TONIGHT SHOW’

Prince lives on. In the wake of the Purple One’s passing, tributes have poured in from artists ranging from Mariah Carey to The Game. On Tuesday (Apr. 26), D’Angelo became the latest superstar to pay homage to the late icon.

The Black Messiah covered Prince’s “Sometimes It Snows In April” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Sitting behind a piano with a white fur vest over a black shirt, D’Angelo was joined by Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum, the duo behind Princess, a Prince cover band.

It was a touching tribute as purple lights shined around the trio. “Sometimes I feel so bad,” they sang with an emotional tone. “Sometimes I wish life was never-ending / All good things, they say, never last / Often dream of heaven and I know that Prince is there.”

Watch the somber, but stirring cover of “Sometimes It Snows In April” below.

Saraki files fresh application to disqualify CCT chairman

ABUJA — The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has filed another application to disqualify Danladi Umar, the chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, from continuing to preside over his trial. Bukola and Saraki Danladi Umar Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, however, ordered security operatives attached to Saraki to leave the courtroom, even as the tribunal warned against posting clips of its proceeding on social media. Ajibola Oluyede, a counsel to Saraki, who is being tried for alleged false and anticipatory assets declaration, filed the application shortly after the trial resumed yesterday. He said the tribunal chairman still had a serious corruption case against him with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and premised his application on Section 36(1) of the constitution, which addressed the issue of biases and the rules of natural justice. Oluyede had unsuccessfully moved a similar application last week, which resulted in a heated exchange between him and Umar. After reading his motion, Oluyede called the attention of the court to a letter written to the Attorney-General by the EFCC chairman in February 2015, which was part of his exhibits against Umar.

Trump vows ‘America first’ foreign policy

Republican White House frontrunner Donald Trump promised a top-to-bottom overhaul of US foreign policy Wednesday to put “America first” and make its allies pay up. In a major foreign policy speech short on specifics that left Washington experts scratching their heads, Trump warned that Europe and Asia may have to defend themselves. He vowed to tear up trade deals, retool NATO to oppose migration and “radical Islam” and put US national interests ahead of all other considerations. “‘America First’ will be the major and overriding theme of my administration,” Trump told supporters, co-opting the slogan of America’s pre-World War II isolationists. The speech had been billed as a chance for Trump,

Smarter Design

Tomorrow's buildings: Smarter by design
By Jane WakefieldTechnology reporter

The smartest buildings of the future will be those designed with people in mind, according to a new breed of architects trying to put the human at the centre of the process.
This can mean design that speaks directly to the function of a building - a hospital designed to help make people better or a school that aims to redefine education.
Or it may mean using technology to allow people to get involved in the design process or feedback on how they feel about living or working in a particular building.
As part of its Tomorrow's Buildings season, the BBC looks at four ideas that aim to do all of the above.
Measuring feelings

The new era of smart buildings is all about data - but, generally, what is being measured is practical stuff such as temperature, light, the number of people in a building at any given time.

YG CLAIMS SECRET SERVICE IS WATCHING HIM

The secret service is keeping tabs on YG. The Compton rapper says that his Nipsey Hussle collaboration “FDT (F**k Donald Trump)” has the authorities reaching out.
“Secret service hollering’ at the label,” YG told TMZ. “They asked to see the lyrics on my album to see if I’m talking about him on my album. If I’m talking about it on my album, they’re gonna try to take it off the shelves.”
That wasn’t exactly YG’s intention with the track, he explained. Instead, he just wanted to move young voters to the polls.
“We’re trying to touch the people,” he said. “We’re trying to motivate the young people to vote. Take your time out to vote on who should be in office because it’s important. If not, it could be all bad for us.”
YG is doing more than fielding calls from the secret service. He’s also prepping his sophomore albumStill Krazy and gearing up for “The Endless Summer Tour” with Logic, G-Eazy, and Yo Gotti.

Advent of a Cyborg Era

Pentagon’s research arm, the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), is taking big initiatives to bringing us a step closer in making cybernetic organisms a reality as U.S. military invests up to $60 million on the development of implants that could connect the human brain and computers.
The Neural Engineering System Design (NESD) is DARPA’s new program that aims to develop a cubic centimeter-sized implant for humans to transmit brain neurons as electronic signals that computers can understand. They consider the result of the currently used neural interface while aggregating hundreds of thousands of neurons through just 100 channels as “noisy and imprecise.” NESD wants to “develop systems that can communicate clearly and individually with any of up to one million neurons in a given region of

Why will Drake be Photoshopped to his album cover?

THE CN TOWER TWITTER ACCOUNT CONFIRMS THAT DRAKE WAS PHOTOSHOPPED ONTO ALBUM COVER

 APRIL 26, 2016

Drake unveiled the cover art to his forthcomingViews From the 6 LP over the weekend, stirring up a firestorm of memes, something that’s become customary with Drake releases of any kind over the last couple years. The artwork, which depicts a very tiny Drake perched atop the CN Tower, the highest point of the tallest structure and signature landmark of his hometown of Toronto, was shot by Canadian photographer Caitlin Cronenberg, but its validity was still called into question. Was Drake actually sitting on top of the CN Tower when Cronenberg took her mesmerizing stills, or was he Photoshopped onto it after the fact?

That question was answered by the verified Twitter account of the CN Tower itself: no, he was not. Whoever runs that Twitter account even threw in a nifty hashtag for those still in doubt. “#NotReallyThere.”

Performance by Usher

Prince takes over Coachella. Many musicians including Ice Cube paid homage to the late great on the first weekend since the Purple One’s death. Usher also came through with a couple of special covers.
The ATLien took the stage with Major Lazer during Sunday’s set to perform “I Would Die 4 U” and “1999,” two of Prince’s biggest hits—hits that continue charting.
Usher wasn’t alone as LCD Soundsystem also covered “Controversy” during their headlining performance and Jack Ü delivered a Prince-heavy set on Friday. Elsewhere, Sufjan Stevens and Gallant covered “Purple Rain,” and Jhené Aiko also joined Gallant for a duet of “Diamonds and Pearls.”

The tributes kept pouring in. According to the Los Angeles Times, Ellie Goulding took on Prince’s “When Doves Cry,” Ice Cube wore purple shoes and a purple bandana, and Killer Mike delivered these potent words: “Prince, wherever you are, we are burning this to the ground in your name.”
